Emerging and Toxic Inorganic Water Pollutants

The prestigious journal Environmental Pollution is currently running a special issue entitled " Emerging and Toxic Inorganic Water Pollutants". As we are acting as guest editors for this issue, we would like to welcome contributions from various disciplines. We kindly invite you to consider submitting your full paper to this special issue.

Availability of safe drinking water is a global challenge. Industrialization and anthropogenic activities are the main sources for emerging pollutants detected in drinking water sources. Fate and transport studies suggest close relationship between undesired environmental and health issues with emerging pollutants. Effective treatment and management of these contaminants is an urgent need. This special issue will provide on hot research topics related to environmental pollution including: advances and challenges in different countries regarding the use of treatment methods for emerging and toxic inorganic pollutants removal, monitoring their impacts, toxicological risks and assessments. We call for original research papers with high scientific quality as well as state-of-the-art review articles covering the following topics but not limited to:

  • Novel methods for the quantification of toxic inorganic pollutants from water
  • Source identification and contaminant transport modelling
  • Toxicity assessment
  • Scale-up of treatment units
